Creating a responsible team
After university I joined Pfizer and then eight years later , I moved to a company called Takeda , which is Japan ’ s largest pharmaceutical company ”, explains Tailor . “ After five enjoyable years , I joined a start-up company called Speciality European Pharma in 2009 , initially as a VP of Marketing and later becoming General Manager for Northern Europe . We acquired Contura and in 2016 , carried out a management buyout of the company , which was rebranded and collectively known as Contura .
“ For me personally , having learnt so much at Pfizer and Takeda , I wanted to get into a company where I could influence things more , action things faster and have more responsibility . Today we have a hard working , tight knit team , one that is brimming with fantastically clever , intelligent and high performing people caring about they do .”
Hydrogel technology at Contura “ The platform technology of our company is a hydrogel ”, explains Tailor . “ It ' s a permanent hydrogel , made up of 97.5 % water , so when injected into the body , it acts like a scaffold for the surrounding soft tissue to grow in and around the gel .”
With no particles or ‘ hard bits ’, Contura ’ s hydrogel is soft and homogenous . Manufactured in Denmark , it has taken two decades of heavy investment and research to get to where it is now .
