• January 2020 : Moderna announces development of the mRNA-1273 vaccine to protect against SARS-CoV-2
• March - April 2020 : Funding is raised from various sources including $ 2.5 billion from the US government , and $ 1 million from the Dolly Parton Covid-19 Research Fund
• April 2020 : First human clinical trials begin
• November 2020 : Results from trials show the vaccine is 94 % effective against infection
• December 2020 : authorised for use by the United States Food and Drug Administration . Other countries around the world follow .
